Tell us about yourself and what you do.
I am the managing editor of Public Money & Management, an international research journal owned by CIPFA and published by Routledge. The journal is read by academics and practitioners. I’m based in Boca Raton, Florida in the US but am regularly in the UK.
Why did you decide to do the course? What were you hoping to get out of it?
I was curious, wanted to fill gaps in my knowledge and know what others thought was important in British public finance. What should be being evaluated/researched.
How is the course structured? What sort of learning aids are used?
The course was cleverly structured with video and graphics so that it was easy to keep doing it. The Question and Answer sessions at the end of each weekly section were very interesting.
Were there opportunities to interact with your teachers and other students?
There would have been if I had paid the full fee. I regret not doing that!
What did you like about it?
Interesting speakers on the videos. It was fun to do: I wasn’t anticipating that!
Who do you think would benefit from the course and why should they consider it?
Anyone who needs a little understanding of the way public finance is organised. Pretty much anyone who presents themselves at a ballot box!
