Kenya’s Treasury department has trained more than 5,000 people at national and county government level in its online public finance management system, according to reports.
The Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS), designed to automate and streamline government financial management processes and procedures, has been rolled out to all public offices, including ministries, departments, agencies and counties, AllAfrica reported.
IFMIS director Jerome Ochieng said the initiative would boost transparency as budget officers, the accountant-general and auditor-general all have access to financial transactions and reports.
The system will also enable spending controls and follow-up of national and county government transactions.
