The government is hosting a workshop this week to establish Managing for Development Results (MfDR), a management strategy that focuses on using performance information to improve decision-making.
MfDR uses tools for strategic planning, risk management, progress monitoring and outcome evaluation. It is expected to help Uganda develop more results-focused and accountable programmes and implementation structures to improve the lives of people in the country.
The workshop, which is supported by the Africa for Results initiative (AfriK4R), will also seek to help accelerate regional integration, establish effective public financial systems, facilitate trade, and improve the business climate in the continent.
About 50 representatives from government, parliament, private sector, the academic world and civil society is expected and will be trained on results-based management principles and practices.
The event is Uganda’s first activity under its AfriK4R country roadmap on attaining results and will be opened by Tarsis Kabwegyere, minister for general duties at the Office of the Prime Minister.
