Thomas Müller-Marqués Berger has been elected chair of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board’s (IPSASB) Consultative Advisory Group (CAG).

He will hold the post until June 2020, having already served a year as inaugural chair.

The group was created in June 2016 as a forum for 22 representatives of public and private sector organisations and individuals interested in IPSASB’s work, including those who prepare, audit, or evaluate public sector financial reports.

It advises the board on its strategy and work plan and technical issues related to adoption and implementation of international public sector accounting standards.

Board chair Ian Carruthers said: “I am delighted Mr Müller-Marqués Berger will continue as CAG Chair. His election confirms that CAG members have valued his commitment and strong leadership since its first meeting in June 2016.”

Müller-Marqués Berger is global head of international public sector accounting at EY, and has chaired the public sector group of Accountancy Europe since 2011.
