Indian finance officials set for training boost

13 Aug 18

The Indian finance ministry is sending officials on a dedicated ‘capacity building programme’ to enable them to keep up with the changes in the global economic environment.

The 12-day training programme has both domestic and foreign components and has been developed to enhance the skill set of financial advisors and middle management officers in line with India’s public financial management act.

In line with many other countries around the world, India is looking to strengthen its financial management and governance, the Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance said.

It added that improved skills for officials were essential for good governance.

The domestic component of the programme will be held at the National Institute of Financial Management, while the foreign training will be held at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, located in North Carolina, US.
